NEWS - Hockey Rawk

New releases, in case you missed it: Two new fanzines with drawings, one from P. Larsson called "Hit + Run" and one from L. Nilsson called "Friends of Cthulhu". Next up: some (probably two, maybe three, but never ever four) tapes out in April.

New year and new plans. Well, that we have new plans really has nothing at all to do with the new year, but, (She loves you) yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hockey Rawk is still alive and kicking like a angry pig. Three releases that will be out soon: A new book/fanzine with drawings from Peter, a new fanzine/book with drawings from Lars (called "Friends of Cthulhu") and a new tape with Mopsiga Barn. Mopsiga Barn is Manlig Kärlek, but with out all the noise and hysteria. More soon. Stay tuned like a string.

Double release party for Peter Larsson´s "Buck Teeth Berry" and Pål Olovsson´s "Earth #1" (not Hockey Rawk) at "BAR HÄSTHUVUDET" Konstfack, Stockholm november 6th. 5 - 10 o´clock. Free entrence. Welcome.

P Larsson is, at the moment, working on a new screen printed book with his drawings. It's gonna be 36 pages, all printed with three colors on awesome mulit color thick paper. The name of the book is "Buck Teeth Berry". Pictures and more information soon.

On November the 14th Hockey Rawk is going to take part in a festival that will happen at Kulturhuset in Stockholm. It's called "Ny musik för hållbar utveckling: Festival". We are going to have our own little corner at the festival. At that spot you will find live performances by Mole Says Hi and Daniel Karlsson & Henrik Olsson. There is also going to be an exhibition with art not only from the Hockey Rawk creaters, but also from the artists that are in one way or another related to the label. After a year the kollage-section is finally updated. Lars has uploaded twelve smoking hot collages. Most of 'em done this week.

Sound Of Music har recenserat kassetterna med Discolangsam och Manlig Kärlek/Edvina Engels. Recensionerna är på svenska. Kanske slår vi ner oss och översätter dem någon gång, men... Den dagen, den glädjeyran.

The tapes have been released into the great outdoors. And the Krets-things is over and done. We are really happy about how everything turned out. Thanks to the people how showed up, bought tapes, beers and looked at the art and listened to the bands. Hopefully someone will upload some pictures from Krets soon.

Hockey Rawk är ett skivbolag/konstkollektiv bestående av Peter Larsson och Lars Nilsson. De släpper kassetter, CD-r-skivor och konstböcker. Konstnärligt rör de sig löst och ledigt mellan kollagestetik och teckning. Musikaliskt ger de ut allt från lågmäld pop till öronbedövande noise.

Banden som spelar kommer att visa upp i vilka musikaliska farvatten Hockey Rawk rör sig. Under kvällen hålls även en mindre utställning med etikettens katalog.

In other news, America is thinking of adding a sugar tax to sodas, the price of petrol is soaring and in the end of June we will release three new tapes. It will be with Discolangsam, a split between Word Salad and Wood Salad and yet another split, this time between Manlig Kärlek and Edvina Engels. Til then, keep your hat on.

In two weeks we will throw a party at Strand/Ugglan in Stockholm. Here's the official text:

Hockey Rawk first saw the light of day in March 2006 around a kitchen table at Strandgatan on the almighty Swedish island Gotland. At Strandgatan five people lived together and two of them – Peter Larsson and Lars Nilsson – started the label Hockey Rawk. A label that operates much like Oskar Anderssons classic Swedish comic creation Mannen som gör hvad som faller honom in (in translation: The Man Who Does Hwæt He Feel Like). If Hockey Rawk want to release a cassette in a sickbag, cd-r:s with music that ranges from harsh noise to experimental lo-fi-pop, screenprinted books, sticker kits, pins or animated films, well, then they do it.

The 24^th March 2009 Hockey Rawk will celebrate their 3^rd year anniversary at Strand/Ugglan in Stockholm. It will be a big bash with five live acts: Christopher Cantillo & Daniel Karlsson Duo, Discolangsam, Elias Krantz, Manlig Kärlek and Mole Says Hi. It will cost 30 SEK and open at 21:00.

The anniversary will also be a release party for the third collagebok from Hockey Rawk. It’s a book called “Chewy Chewy Gumdrops” and is filled with collages from P. Larssson and L. Nilsson. It will also contain a cd-r-comp. with artists like Cock ESP, The Moth and Caethua. More info soon.

We´ll soon announce our plans for releases during the spring. There´s a lot of good things cooking.

Peter has made a new book with his drawings. It´s called HUNK HONK TODD PODD (HR#22), has 36 pages photo copied on various colored papers, 12 cm x 16,6 cm. There are plans for a special edition with a screen printed cover. We´ll get back about release date and the price. Guess it would happen around the end of january.

The Hockey Rawk night at Galleri Mejan went fine. No pictures were taken (if someone got any and want to share, please send 'em to us: hockeyrawk@gmail.com). The Discolangsam concert was a beautiful, fragile moment of whispering calm pop including instruments like singing bowls, a bow, a ruler and radios. Earlier the Neon Underwear Trio performance started the evening and had three cut out figures with the projections of sliced clay and splashed paint to guide the out of controled pre-recoreded tapes from each member of the trio. Things went pretty much as we had hoped.

Now we (Peter, Lars) are working on the next Hockey Rawk release. It will be another collage book (#20), our third one. This time we´re gonna include a comp. cd-r with some great artists and band that you can listen to while looking at the pictures. Our plan is to put out the book/cd-r around March - April 09.

The Le Ton Mité-performance at the Hockey Rawk release party is cancelled. The artist McCloud Zicmuse has run into trouble with traveling tickets and show booking. This is really sad and we cross our fingers to get another chance soon to experience this unique one-man-show-band.

The release party will still take place. It´s still on Kungliga konsthögskolans gallery "Galleri Mejan" in Stockholm at Skeppsholmen (in front of Moderna Museet) Take bus 65 or T-bana Kungsträdgården. It all starts at 8pm and it´s for free.

DiscoLangsam will replace Le Ton Mité. This värmdö based duo (with help from guitarist/singer D. Karlsson) deliver fragile and dark pop without bounds.

So, this is what you´ll get on Thursday the 4th: Neon Underwear Trio, DiscoLangsam, a grande hockey distro table & mini bar, records getting played and nice people to hang loose with. No longer any admission. Hockey Rawk are going to be a part of "Ny musik för hållbar utveckling" at Lava, Kulturhuset, Stockholm on Friday November 21th 7pm. The theme for the evening is "the swedish cassette scene". This compact disc marks the beginning of a new freeform/improvisationsduo. This is really intense, deep listening in nine states and 67 minutes. There something unsetteling over this recording. Like an evil shadow cast over a sweet dream. The sounds are all around you. Christopher Cantillo plays prepared and non-perpared percussions and Daniel Karlsson plays electronics, voice and prepared guitar. The cover sports a screen-printed drawing by Peter Larsson.

Almost alive and back from 8 days of film, beer and lots of people in Göteborg film festival. There is a new exhibition calld Hunk Honk Todd Podd, in Linköping Galleri JR with my (peter) drawings (same pictures as in the krets show 4:4 dec 07) I think the galleri is sort of in a window of a mall, and its always open.

This is what is happening: Lars moved back to his native island and bakes pepparkakor, a kind of swedish cookie, with his mother. The next release will be Manlig Kärlek "Kär Och Sjuk". It will be released 1 january 2008. It is a cassette with 11 harsh noise songs. The cassette will be handprinted and packaged in sickbag together with a 24 page A6-fanzine with texts and pictures. It will be limited to 28 copies and cost 40 SEK. We take pre-orders now.

Peters exhibition is over, but soon Krets will host Distro Grande, where Hockey Rawk-stuff most likely will be sold. Visit their homepage for more info.

The opening at krets. (crap pictures, more and better will be exposed at Krets soon). I think there was about 104 drawings. The Krets staff did a amazing job with getting the pictures on the walls. The release of the hockey rawk cd-r:s was not a big sucess, because the Tsukimono- and Mole says hi-covers was lost on there way to Malmö... we hope to be able to arrange another release party in a near future. The Peter Larsson show will take place until friday 7/12

The Descendents were right when they said that it's a hetic world. Hockey Rawk are planing to release something very soon, but we are living in opposite sides of Sweden. Peter studying art in Stockholm and Lars residing in Malmö and doing god knows what. But we will meet in Gotheburg in the beginning of October because it is the glorious GAS festival again. Be there and shake hands with us if you want to. We will meet anyway and discuss, among other things, the upcoming releases. Which are:
